If you haven't heard any of Helen's solo material, she's been kicking around since the birth of postpunk with bands like The Chefs and Helen & the Horns, and is a renowned academic who's written loads on music, such as The Lost Women of Rock Music: Female Musicians of the Punk Era (as Helen Reddington), and she's also the co-director (with Gina Birch) of the excellent film, Stories of the She Punks. Her songs burst with originality, replete the same sort of charm, alluring personality and minimalism of peers like Marine Girls, The Raincoats & Television Personalities.
