Digitally remastered on CD for the first time. Streetmark were a progressive rock band from Dusseldorf. Formed in 1969, the band initially toured live for years before releasing Nordland in 1975. The original line-up during the creation of Nordland consisted of Georg Buschmann (vocals), Dorothea Raukes (keyboards), Thomas Schreiber (guitar), Hans Sweat (drums) and Wolfgang Westphal (bass). Bernd Schreiber started as the second guitarist in the band and then switched to the mixing desk, where he later also worked as co-producer of the album. Streetmark mainly played their own compositions, which were rocky at the time but were subtly influenced by classical music. Thomas and Dorothea both had a classical education which helped them to implement their musical ideas. This is clearly evident in the album's solos. Although bands like Procol Harum, Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Deep Purple were role models, Streetmark didn't imitate them but developed their own style. "Nordland" was produced in Conny Plank's recording studio in Neunkirchen. The album was finally released by Gunter Korber on the newly founded Hamburg record label "Sky Records", and the band remained with the label for their following releases, although Georg Buschmann split to form his own band Straight Shooter.
