One of Lou's best post-Velvet Underground albums! Great songwriting throughout, with several gems. From the rocking opener “I Love You Suzanne” this is one song after another of Lou at his melodic best, with horns, keyboards and backing singers used to great effect. “My Red Joystick” and “Turn to Me” are hilarious and catchy and “New Sensations”, “Doin’ The Things That We Want To” and “Fly Into The Sun” are introspective masterpieces. There’s some endlessly curious bass work by Fernando Saunders, that practically lead the melody on some of these songs. ‘New Sensations’ is one of Lou's most commercial albums (and poppiëst) and that's by no means a bad thing on this occasion.
