OR NOT is a multi-generation metal band from The Netherlands that plays epic thrash metal. The father-son combo combines the raw energy of old school thrash with epic orchestration and a super tight, massive sound. During the Corona crisis, the band decided to use this period wisely to fulfill a long desired dream: making a full length album together that would meet all their musical and qualitative criteria. With the crisis limiting many other distractions, this was the perfect time to start writing, playing and recording. Where father Dolf brought in old school influences as Symphony-X, (old) Metallica, Slayer and Machine Head, young Daniel injected the OR NOT sound with bands like Orbit Culture, Bleed From Within, Trivium, Sylosis and Fit For A King. As soon as they build the basis, many other guest musicians were invited to make their creative contributions and lift the album to the highest possible level of diversity and professionalism. On top of that, cost nor energy were saved to achieve a mind blowing production, including the contributions of some very experienced people. Here you can think of producer Hans Pieters (Gorefest, Elegy & Epica), orchestrator Carsten Altena (The Monolith Death Cult) and mastering engineer Peter van ‘t Riet (Dream Theater, Symphony-X, Epica & Ayreon). OR NOT can proudly present their double album “Violence & Grace”, offering more than 90 minutes of metal mayhem, divided over 16 different songs, packed in a stunning Deluxe 2CD Media-book.
