Released in 1969 on A&M Records (under the CTI imprint), the album showcases Desmond’s signature smooth, lyrical alto sax tone in a lush, sophisticated setting, creating a dreamy, elegant atmosphere. It’s a stylistic departure from his earlier work with the Dave Brubeck Quartet, leaning more into bossa nova, orchestral jazz, and light fusion elements.
