Led by sole remaining founder member Simon Nicol , the band, featuring Dave Pegg, Dave Swarbrick and Bruce Rowland , embarked on what they believed was the band’s ‘farewell tour’ of the UK. Recorded at Derby Assembly Rooms, Birmingham University and Southampton University , the band performed some of their best loved songs , including their anthem, Richard Thompson’s “Meet On The Ledge”. Forty years later, the influential band is still touring with Nicol and Pegg still at the helm! The bonus tracks feature three more recordings from the tour, plus the 1980 studio single “Rubber Band”. The booklet is annotated by Alan Robinson .

The Fairport Convention legend was forged between 1967 & 1979 – 12 years, 16 albums, umpteen line-ups & four exhausted people at the end of it. In August 1980, the last line-up – Simon Nicol, Dave Swarbrick, Dave Pegg & Bruce Rowland – reunited for a day in a farmer’s field in Cropredy, Oxfordshire, establishing the iconic 'Fairport's Cropredy Convention' festival in the process. Five relatively quiet years passed by before, in 1985 & by popular demand, a new recording & touring Fairport Convention assembled around Peggy & Simon. Everything moved up a gear. There would be four new albums by 1990 & BBC Radio welcomed the reborn folk-rockers with remarkable regularity.
