CB is Tyler’s fourth album, originally released on April 13, 2015. Tyler handled the production entirely by himself, with additional contributions from Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger. The album features guest appearances from notable artists such as Schoolboy Q, Charlie Wilson, Kali Uchis, Lil Wayne, andn Pharrell Williams. It was supported by two singles: "Deathcamp" and "Fucking Young," accompanied by a music video. Despite some criticism for its chaotic nature, "Cherry Bomb" is praised for its ambition and Tyler's ability to create a unique and engaging sound.
'Chromakopia' is Tyler, the Creator's eighth studio album, a self-produced hip-hop and R&B record that explores themes of fame, paranoia, aging, parenting, and love through a narrative guided by his mother. The album blends musical styles similar to his previous work with a new vulnerability, using the metaphor of 'color' (chroma) to represent the intensity of his feelings and experiences, as he sheds past personas.
Following Tyler, the Creator’s metamorphosis from a cockroach-vomiting goblin to a flowering, introspective songwriter has been one of the decade’s true treats. With each record, Tyler has become more focused, honing his production skills and discovering that the art of crafting albums is more rewarding than shock value and banger clout. This growth culminated in 2017’s Flower Boy, an album many believed to be a career-defining effort filled with lush orchestrations and intimate examinations of loneliness and sexuality. Flower Boy offered Tyler an open door to a better present where he could live his best life. However, as Tyler chronicles on his 2019 masterpiece, IGOR, the present isn’t always paradise, and love is more complicated than our daydream idealizations. (consequenceofsound.net)
